I just arrived back home yesterday from a week long vacation in sunny San Diego. I feel lucky that my work as a coach has afforded me to enjoy a flexible schedule and travel. I was even able to funnel many of my coaching clients into one of my San Diego days, delighting in back-to-back coaching calls from the backyard of the house where I was staying. This is simply not possible in the rainy season of Portland, OR! I delighted in every minute of it.
This is the kind of scenario I imagined when I thought about starting my own business. Making a good living doing work I loved, and the freedom and flexibility of creating my own schedule.
And yet, there have been times- along the way- when I lost sight of why I started my business.
Even working for myself, I noticed a pattern of overworking, stress, and not taking breaks. Realizing that I temporarily lost sight of why I had started the business in the first place. Has this ever happened to you?
And now after having enjoyed such an amazing, relaxing vacation, I feel inspired to get you thinking about why you started your business.
- Why did you start your business?
- What kind of impact do you want to make through your work?
- What kind of lifestyle would you like to enjoy?
Just a few simple questions can redirect and grow your focus on what you really want.
When you work for yourself your focus is everything. Remember why you started your business, so you can create the life you really want. Only you can do it. You just have to keep your eye on the ball.
What about you? What tips and tricks do you have for staying focused on growing the business you truly desire?
