Whether you’ve been in business a long while, or you’re just starting out, it can be easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others.

Credibility Hack #1: The Power of Proximity
Sure Oprah is more famous than you, has more money and more fans. However, Oprah might not be in a conversation with your ideal client right now, and you are. People don’t often hire from ALL of the possible options available. More often, we choose who we hire and communicate with based on who we know and who is right in front of us.
You want to attract more ideal clients and opportunities? Put yourself in the mix. Strike up conversations with your ideal clients or people who know them. If you are in proximity, and you can solve a pressing challenge that your ideal client is struggling with, you can land the opportunity over someone more established, who is not top of mind.
Credibility Hack #2: The Power of Niche
Focusing your expertise can earn you big trust with your ideal client, if you are willing to claim who “they” really are.
For instance, let’s say you had a friend who was a 35 year-old woman who was an executive coach seeking to grow her business from 6 to 7 figures. Who do you think she’d be more likely to hire: Someone who works with ANY kind of business, or a coach who specializes in working with female executive coaches wanting to scale their business from six figures to seven?
Likely, regardless of all of the other factors, this person would be drawn to the coach who specializes in working with clients just like her. Often, clients care more about this than where you trained or what all of your professional accolades might be.
Credibility Hack #3: The You Factor
Bringing your genuine voice and style to the table can be extremely powerful for attracting your ideal clients. Why? Because much like it is for finding a romantic soul mate, when you bring your true self forward in your brand and your business, you will attract people who are wanting just that.
Often when you compare yourself to others, or focus on what you don’t have (that level of fame, or list or decades of experience, etc.) you aren’t considering that buying decisions can be very personal. And when you play full out, some people won’t want someone else. They will want YOU.
Their connection to your uniqueness will not only inspire them to invest more in themselves (time, money, etc.) but often their appreciation and gratitude for what you offer allows them to experience even better results. This is a true win win!
Credibility Hack #4: The Caring Factor
There is no substitute for genuine caring in business and if you truly care about your clients it will take you far!
Caring is felt and not caring is also felt. Which means, no matter how many years in business someone has, no matter how big a community, trust has the potential to be gained (and lost) each and every day.
If you deeply care about your client’s experience and results in working with you, hold your head up high and know you bring something priceless to the table.
