You’ve probably heard the phrase “six-figure” business thrown around a lot in the business and marketing worlds, from trainings, to Facebook ads, to coaching programs and more. Heck, I’ve even used it!
Although the term has turned into something of a buzzword, the six-figure level continues to be an important milestone for many business owners. If you’re not quite there yet, just imagine, what would six figures do for you?
Think about it: For most solo pros, especially service-based pros with low overhead, or online entrepreneurs, the six-figure milestone marks an important shift– from living very scrappy and/or fueling your business off of loans–to having some resources to re-invest in the business, while also getting a paycheck- woohoo!
For me “six figures,” although overused, doesn’t feel like a buzzword because I’ve seen it to be such a turning point for my clients and also for me. With consistent $10k months, I was able to bring my partner, Chris, into the business full time. I now have full time support in the areas that are not my genius– design, back-end systems, social media and email automation and more…! — so I can spend my time doing what I do best, working with my amazing clients, writing, and speaking.
What would $10k months do for you?
There are many things I did to jump up to this level of income in my business, but the essence of everything really comes down to VALUE. Here’s how:
#1 Value Your Time
When you’re starting out, or your business is more at a hobby level, you can get away with some time wasters and still make some money. But if you want to make $10k consistently, you must be more diligent. Are you attending the right networking events? Do you need to set up all of those coffee meetings? How can you create the biggest impact with each activity you invest your time in? You are still constantly engaging in the growth of your business, while acknowledging that not all activities are productive. You know how to say, “Yes,” and you know how to say, “No.”
#2 Value Your Expertise
You’ve said goodbye to trades and unreasonably discounting your services to “get the sale.” You are now valuing expertise more than ever before…and your clients can feel it. You used to be afraid of what might happen if you boldly raised your rates, and now you’re realizing that your ideal clients are more attracted to working with you as you stand in your power and your worth.
#3 Value Your Audience
As a business owner achieving sustainable six-figure success, you know your audience is the reason you are here. By buying your products and services, your audience is sponsoring you in living your life mission. You know that you couldn’t do this without them, so you are constantly looking for ways to add more VALUE to them! You do not guess anymore about what they want.
Instead, you collaborate. You look for new opportunities to find out what they want, to answer questions, and hear feedback. Your clients feel seen, heard, and loved. And now, everyone has a stake in your business success.
